This report was created after consulting with patients, consumers, and community groups between June 2022 and August 2022.

Purpose of the assessment

The government requires all Health and Wellbeing Boards to produce an assessment of NHS pharmaceutical services in their areas every 3 years.

The Haringey Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment report:

  • examines the current pharmacy services available in Haringey
  • evaluates the need for pharmaceutical services in Haringey based on the local population
  • identifies gaps in the current service provision
  • suggests recommendations

Which services are included

Pharmaceutical services include:

  • providing prescription medicines and appliances
  • selling medicines to the public
  • health and wellbeing advice
  • safe disposing of waste medicine

How we uses the assessment

We use PNAs to make informed decisions when considering applications for new pharmacies. The PNA is also used when commissioning other services that could be delivered by community pharmacies and other providers.

The PNA might also be used by other agencies, like:

  • NHS England
  • North Central London Integrated Care Board
