Whilst the museum has been closed, we have been busy working behind the scenes with Community Payback to develop our courtyard into a learning and events space with new furniture and a storytelling area for early years.

We are working on new web pages and have lots of exciting plans for child-friendly educational content such as 3D object investigations, quizzes, and animation.

Learning at a glance
Facilitated workshops - let our education team inspire you on a journey of discovery. With over 20 topics to choose from, our immersive workshops are designed to create memorable learning experiences and support children to develop skills, knowledge and cultural capital.
STEM sessions - get up close to our collections of fossils, bones and taxidermy specimens.
Activity trails - take a tour of the building and grounds with our new activity booklets designed for KS1 / KS2.
SEND - our education team are experienced in working with children with SEND and offer a range of exploratory sessions using tactile and sensory objects.
Self Led Trails
Explore the early history of Bruce Castle and the surrounding parkland with one of self led trails. Suitable for KS1-KS2.
Mystery Manor Trail
Book this trail and discover more about the early history of Bruce Castle. Through a series of activities Wilbur the Wyvern, a dragon-like creature who sits on Bruce Castle, will guide the class around the exterior of his home helping pupils to explore the mysteries of the manor house.
Bruce Castle Tree Trail
Explore the beautiful grounds of Bruce Castle Park. Every child will receive their own activity booklet to guide them in exploring the history of the park and its varied plants and trees. The booklet contains a range of activities, including scientific discovery, identifying different trees and plants and drawing pictures.

Bring the Castle into your Classroom
A programme of special exhibitions available to loan for display in school. Exhibitions available for KS1 - KS3 with links to National Curriculum areas History, English, Geography and Citizenship. Supporting materials for selected exhibitions including digital resource packs are available on request to support the exhibition.

- 1619 Map: The Land Beneath our Feet
Discover the Land Beneath your Feet to explore our built environment and what preceded it. The exhibition is inspired by our 1619 pictorial map of Tottenham and Wood Green. The earliest known map of the area, the map is a great resource to explore how the local land and landmarks have changed over the past 400 years. - Behind Sacred Doors
Delve behind sacred doors and explore some of Haringey's local churches. The exhibition explores the art and architecture of 10 churches in the borough and looks at examples of craftsmanship in the churches. - Black Georgian Londoners: People, Portraits and Perceptions
Discover the hidden histories of prominent black men and women of Georgian London. Profiles include Phillis Wheatley, Olaudah Equiano and Ignatius Sancho; the first known black man to vote in the UK. - Carnival: Costume and Commentary
Trace the early development of carnival in Western Europe and the Caribbean. Explore the role of costume in carnivals and how costume has - and continues - to be used as a form of social commentary. - Hidden Heroes: Soldiers from the Empire
Between 1914 and 1918 Britain took part in the First World War and men from all over the world fought alongside each other. The exhibition explores the stories of the soldiers from across the empire who contributed to the war effort. - Local Figurehead: Local Heroes
An exhibition of objects donated by prominent people from Haringey's Black Community. Discover their stories and what significance their object held for them. - Local Reflections: Nelson Mandela and the Haringey Anti-Apartheid Movement
Explore the legacy of Nelson Mandela and remember the contribution and strength of people in Haringey who came together and campaigned as part of the Anti-Apartheid Movement. - Memories from the Islands
An exhibition of commissioned photographs of the Caribbean from the 1950s and 1960s, chosen by members of Haringey University of the Third Age. - Origins of the Afro Comb
Delve into the history of the African comb or pick spanning 5,000 years. The exhibition focuses on the origins of Afro combs and their use in influencing style, culture, politics and identity. - Re-creating Memories
A photographic exhibition celebrating and recording positive role models, community leaders and activists from the African and African Caribbean communities in Haringey. - The Man Who Named the Clouds: Luke Howard (1772 - 1864)
This exhibition celebrates the life and work of Tottenham resident Luke Howard who has been named as the first weatherman. - Windrush Legends and Legacies
Discover the stories of the commitment and contribution to democracy, education, business, culture and everyday life of Haringey's black community. Inspired by stories from the Bruce Castle Museum and Archive collections, follow the timeline celebrating the presence, the significant contribution and the lasting impact by Haringey's Windrush Generation and their descendants in our community, from 1945 to 2008.
