Support available and more information

What support can you expect from the council’s Direct Payment Support Team?

The Direct Payment Support Team will provide you with information, advice and practical support to help you arrange your own care services - they will:

  • ensure you are using the direct payment to make the necessary care arrangements to meet your eligible needs at each stage of review
  • provide information, advice and support if you require more help to manage a direct payment
  • Continue to review the appropriateness of a direct payment and assess the risks involved. For example, if needs change, or if you are unable or unwilling to continue to manage the payment. If appropriate they will formally notify you of a suspension or cessation of the arrangement
  • support you to close the direct payment account, and the associated arrangements should the direct payment need to end
  • arrange care and support directly if you do not wish to continue to receive direct payments, or if the direct payment is suspended or terminated
  • Support you if you choose to employ your own care and support
